Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

News and traffic and travel information;
We broadcast news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly from 0900 and 1900 on weekdays. Breakfast and drive time bulletins contain a full mix of local, national and world stories, along with appropriate weather, sport and entertainment stories.
At the weekend, news bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast between 0800 and 1100 with extra national and world news bulletins at 0600, 0700, 1200 and 1300

"Milton Keynes hospital's maternity unit needs more beds, more midwives and stronger leadership. That's the finding of a report by the Healthcare Commission, which was carried out after a coroner ruled systems and communication failures led to the death of a new born baby. But MK Hospital claims many changes are already underway."....
....."Buckinghamshire County Council's budget could be 27 million pounds short for the year 2010 to 11. The County Council claims less funding and higher costs could lead to the deficit. So it's looking at ways to save money without affecting services.".....
....."The school meals provider in Milton Keynes has withdrawn from its contract. Sodexo claims it's been unable to provide the high quality of service which it expects from itself. The three year contract will end in June - two years early."....

Automated programming: There is currently no automated programming on our station. (NB: Although we play non stop music on weekdays between 1300hrs and 1400hrs, this programme is not automated).
Local programming: Weekday output from 0600hrs until 1000hrs and 1300hrs until 1900hrs, and weekend output from 0800hrs to 1200 on Saturday and Sundays is produced and presented from our Milton Keynes studios (NB: We are currently broadcasting from our Dunstable studios temporarily while essential building work is carried out to make our studios safe. This work is expected to last approximately 6 weeks)
Other programming (e.g. Toby Anstis, Club Classics, Heartbreakers, Emma Bunton, Jason Donovan and the Big Top 40 Show) is produced at various studios, owned and operated by our parent company Global.

OFCOM localness guidelines and how to complain to OFCOM
Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here
In addition all local radio stations have written ‘formats' that they must follow at all times. You can read ours here
If you have a complaint to make about our radio station, in the first instance you should contact the programme controller at the address below. If you are unhappy with the response you receive, you can complain directly to the regulator, Ofcom. Their website has full details about how to do this.

Events/Charities Support or Coverage;
We are proud to be a part of the fastest growing city in Europe and we aim to help all charitable and non profit making groups with their local events through publicity. You can send in your events here
Our official station charity is Have A Heart which provides grants to disadvantaged children in the local community. It is operated by Global Charities (registered charity number 1091657) and relies on fundraising to sustain its work.
We are also proud to support and be associated with the Milton Keynes Community Foundation. A local independent grant making charity whose vision is to create a culture of giving that strengthens and supports the local community. Over the last 7 years, we haves built a fund through our Pound a Plug days and charity auction weekends that local groups can apply to for funding. For more information on who has benefitted and how you can get involved and do your bit for Milton Keynes, check the Foundation's website
We are also the media partner for many local fundraising events such as the Cancer Research UK Race for Life and the Get on Yer Bike event for Cancer Research UK at Furzton Lake.
We also regularly visit many fetes, fairs, carnivals and open days across Milton Keynes and North Bucks.
Recent Programming and or/News highlights;
Heart are the official media partner for the National Bowl and we cover most major events held at the Bowl. Previously these have included concerts by Take That, Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams. We are also involved with hosting many local community events including the West Bletchley Carnival, Newport Pagnell Carnival, Stoke Goldington Steam Rally, Big Moo and Race For Life.
