Out now:

Twilight
Bella Swan has always been a bit different and never fitted in at school. But when her parents separate she joins her father in Washington where she falls in love with a boy unlike any she has ever met.

The good bits: Forget the 'Vampire movie' label, Twilight is just a fantastic teen romance. With a hot leading lady and gentleman who ooze passion and intensity, this movie will remind you of falling head over heels in love for the first time.
The bad bits: If it's a Vampire movie you're after, the lack of blood and guts may disappoint.
Any hotties? Robert Pattinson
Who would you take? Your brother
Genre? Romance / teen

Yes Man
“Yes Man” stars Jim Carrey as Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say “yes” to everything...and anything.”The film is based on comedian Danny Wallace's second solo book, Yes Man which was published in July 2005. In it, he describes how he spent six months "saying Yes where once would have said No", to make his life more interesting and positive.

The good bits: Jim Carrey is hilarious and not too over the top as the lead Carl Allen. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments, and the relationship between Carl and his girlfriend Alison (played by Zooey Deschanel) is very endearing.
The bad bits:
If you've read the book you may feel Mr Hollywood has squeezed the magic and charm out of the original story.
Any hotties? Zooey Deschanel
Who would you take? Your best friend
Genre? Comedy

Australia
Australia is an epic and romantic action adventure, set in that country on the explosive brink of World War II. In it, an English aristocrat (NICOLE KIDMAN) travels to the faraway continent where she meets a rough-hewn local (HUGH JACKMAN) and reluctantly agrees to join forces with him to save the land she inherited.

The good bits: Australia is the Gone With The Wind of our generation - the breath taking scenery is beautifully shot, the love story between The Drover and Lady Sarah is depicted brilliantly by our leading lady and gentleman, and like all good movies there are elements of both comedy and tragedy.
The bad bits:  Take a cushion with you - it's a bit of a long one.
Any hotties? Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman
Who would you take? Your brother
Genre? Romance / adventure

Still showing:

The Day The Earth Stood Still
A remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth. The remake stars Keanu Reeves as the alien Klaatu, and Jennifer Connelly as Helen Benson who tries to understand why the alien has come to earth.

The good bits: The special effects are pretty mind blowing and keep you well and truly on your toes.
The bad bits: Where do we begin? The story is weak with an unsatisfactory ending, Keanu plays his usual Sci fi character and unless you like CGI there is very little to draw your into the film.
Any hotties? Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connolly
Who would you take? Your brother
Genre? Sci fi

But when a power-hungry villain from a rare children’s fable kidnaps Meggie’s father to bring others out of the book, she and a group of both real and magic friends - embark on an adventure to save him.

The good bits: With family faces and plenty of wonder and magic, this sure to fill the Harry Potter shaped hole in all our lives.
The bad bits: The CGI effects aren't quite up to scratch for a movie of this calliber.
Any hotties? Helen Mirren, Brendan Fraser
Who would you take? Your sister
