Stantonbury Campus redevelopment

Sainsbury's wants to redevelop Stantonbury Campus and the local centre

The Supermarket's working with the school to put an outline planning application in to Milton Keynes Council.

The current proposals are to replace the existing local centre with new retail units, which would include a pharmacy and a post office, a new Sainsbury's supermarket, a new health centre and a new community centre.

The land at the north of Stantonbury Campus, which includes some of the school buildings which are in need of replacement, is proposed to be included within the new centre. It's hoped that by regenerating the local centre it will provide funds for state-of-the-art school facilities in new buildings elsewhere on the site.

Mark Wasserberg, the Principal at Stantonbury Campus, said "We now have a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform the facilities of Stantonbury Campus to offer state-of-the-art education for the 21st Century. Working with Sainsbury's will enable us to vastly enhance facilities, raise educational standards and improve security for our students as well as opening up educational and social facilities for the wider community."

Richard Haynes, Sainsbury's Development Executive, said, "Stantonbury local centre is in need of regeneration. These joint proposals would ultimately provide a new Sainsbury's and other shops and services for the local community."

Sainsbury's and Stantonbury Campus say they want to involve the local community in the plans and there'll be consultation before any comprehensive plans are submitted to the council.

Public exhibitions are being held this week so you can have a look at the initial plans and discuss them with representatives. They are at Stantonbury Campus Leisure Centre on:

 Tuesday 3rd November, 5pm-9pm
 Wednesday 4th November, 5pm-9pm
 Saturday 7th November, 9am-1pm

What do you think about the idea? Let us know here.

The area definitely needs this and thank god it's not a tesco's! I have to go all the way down to the hub at the mo since it moved from the food centre and this is not funny going by bus!
